The Hollywood landscape of English football could be set for a star-studded expansion. Hugh Jackman, the world-renowned actor famous for his portrayal of Wolverine, has signaled a serious interest in joining the ownership ranks of an English football club. Following the massive success of his friend and co-star Ryan Reynolds at Wrexham, Jackman is setting his sights on the historic Norwich City Football Club.

During a promotional tour for his upcoming film, The Death of Robin Hood, Jackman spoke candidly about his connection to the “Canaries.” The actor has long harbored a deep affection for the club, which hails from the hometown of his mother. When pressed by TalkSport about the possibility of following in Reynolds’ footsteps to purchase a stake in the team, Jackman offered a surprising and exclusive confirmation.

“I’m very, very interested in talking about it right now,”

Jackman stated during the broadcast.

“You’re the first one to know that. There’s a little exclusive.”

This revelation suggests that the actor is not merely a passive fan but is actively considering a professional involvement with the organization.

A Potential Championship Rivalry

If Jackman moves forward with an investment, it would set the stage for a high-profile “Deadpool-Wolverine” derby in the Championship. Currently, both Wrexham and Norwich City are competing in the English second-tier, adding a layer of cinematic intrigue to their on-field rivalry. Ryan Reynolds, alongside Rob McElhenney, successfully revitalized Wrexham, placing the club on the global map since their 2021 acquisition.

While Wrexham has captured global attention, Norwich City boasts a rich, storied history. The club’s legacy includes a memorable 1993 victory over German powerhouse Bayern Munich during the UEFA Cup. The team, known for its iconic yellow and green uniforms, is currently majority-owned by Mark Attanasio, who also serves as the principal owner of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Future Ambitions

The prospect of Jackman’s arrival comes at an exciting time for Norwich. The club has seen a significant performance shift since the hiring of Belgian coach Philippe Clement in November. Jackman expressed optimism regarding the team’s trajectory, noting that the upcoming season holds immense potential for the squad.

Both Norwich and Wrexham are viewed as strong contenders for promotion to the Premier League this year. Securing a spot in the top flight would be a monumental achievement, as the Premier League remains the most valuable club football competition in the world.

Jackman’s support remains firmly with Norwich, despite his close ties to the Wrexham ownership team. He offered a lighthearted nod to his friend’s success, stating,

“Good on Ryan. You do your thing. I’m all about the Canaries.”

As the Championship season progresses, fans will be watching closely to see if this Hollywood star transitions from a fan to a stakeholder. Should the deal materialize, it would mark yet another chapter of celebrity investment transforming the landscape of English football, blending high-stakes sports management with global entertainment influence.
