In the village of Qusra, south of Nablus, a humanitarian crisis is deepening as 15 Palestinians, including two young children, enter their second week trapped inside their homes. Surrounded by a combination of armed Israeli settlers and military battalions, these families remain cut off from essential supplies, including food, water, and electricity.

The United Nations has expressed grave concern, reporting that the residents are living in a state of terror. Unable to meet basic human needs, the families are effectively held captive as military forces and settler groups maintain a tight cordon around the Ras al-Ain area.

Attempts to alleviate the suffering have been met with resistance. Over the weekend, the Israeli military intercepted a UNICEF aid convoy. While two vehicles were eventually allowed to deliver a limited supply of food, military forces blocked and expelled a water tanker, ensuring the families remained deprived of clean water. This follows earlier incidents where settlers violently attacked municipal workers attempting to repair damaged utility lines.

Qusra Mayor Abdel Azim Wadi has condemned the situation as a total abandonment of humanitarian standards. “Today, what our families in Jabal Ras al-Ain are experiencing is truly stripped of humanity,” Wadi stated, highlighting the stark contrast between international rhetoric on human rights and the reality faced by his constituents.

On-the-ground reports from journalists indicate a coordinated effort between the military and settler groups. Witnesses observed soldiers providing support to settlers as they restrict movement and pressure Palestinians to vacate their homes. The military has further consolidated its control by seizing a local home to use as a temporary barracks and declaring the area a closed military zone to exclude international observers and activists.

The situation remains stagnant despite the presence of nine outstanding eviction orders against an illegal outpost nearby. While the military has refrained from enforcing these orders against the “Hilltop Youth” militia members operating from the outpost, they continue to enforce the blockade against the local Palestinian families.

1. Fifteen Palestinians remain besieged in Qusra for the second week.
2. Military and settler cooperation has cut off all electricity and water access.
3. Aid attempts, including a UNICEF convoy, have been obstructed by military forces.
4. Local authorities describe the situation as a total violation of basic human rights.
