Atiku, ADC Blast Failed Airport Arrest of El-Rufai

Nigeria’s political landscape is heating up as Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) condemned the attempted arrest of former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Security operatives reportedly tried to detain El-Rufai at Abuja’s International Airport upon his return from Egypt.  

Atiku described the incident as a partisan move by the ICPC, visiting El-Rufai in a show of solidarity. Meanwhile, the ADC labeled the act "politically motivated," warning against the weaponization of law enforcement.  

Unfazed, El-Rufai accused National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu of orchestrating the "abduction" and vowed to work tirelessly to unseat the APC in the 2027 elections. "We must not sleep until we remove this tyrant," El-Rufai declared, signaling a hardening of opposition lines. As the anti-corruption fight faces scrutiny, this airport drama marks a pivotal moment in Nigeria's shifting political alliances.
